The Nigeria program is open for Lagos State only.
Children in the Program: Children range in age from about 2 to 8 years old at the time of adoption. They are referred for intercountry adoption generally due to abandonment. The children live in government operated orphanages.
Wait times to adopt: From the time of registration in the program, it takes between 1 to 2 years to complete an adoption from Nigeria.
Eligibility requirements: Lagos state, Nigeria does not require adoptive applicants to be Nigerian nationals as does other states in Nigeria. Lagos accepts single applicants. It takes between 1 to 2 years to complete an adoption from Lagos state after receiving provincial approval.
Relative Adoption: The agency provides services to applicants who have or intend to adopt a relative child from Lagos, Nigeria. All adoptions are subject to the approval of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) allowing the child to enter and reside in Canada. Immigration timelines are not included in this estimate.
