Nigeria

Nigeria_flagThe Nigeria program is open to accept new applicants.  The Lagos program is new since 2017.  Please contact our office for details.

Children in the Program
Children who are referred for intercountry adoption range in age from one year to to older children and are eligible for adoption due to economic distress or abandonment. The children who are placed through our agency live in government operated orphanages in various states of Nigeria.

Wait times to adopt
From the time of registration in the program, it takes between 1 to 2 years to complete an international adoption from Nigeria. Most states in Nigeria require applicants to be Nigerian in background and require a residency period in which the applicants must reside in Nigeria with the child prior to finalizing the adoption in Court. Our program in Lagos state does not require any residency period and accepts non-Nigerian applicants. It takes between 1 to 2 years to complete an adoption from Lagos State.

Relative Adoption: The agency also provides services to relatives who have or intend to complete an adoption in Nigeria. All adoptions are subject to the approval of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) allowing the child to enter and reside in Canada, and their timelines are not included in this estimate.

Costs: Foreign program costs and legal fees vary between service providers in different states. Please contact the agency.
